Su primera presentaci\u00f3n en la televisi\u00f3n fue en un comercial en su Isla natal a la edad de seis. Luego de mudarse a Miami en 1986, Ponce comenz\u00f3 a estudiar teatro musical y ejerc\u00eda las destrezas que aprend\u00eda en el escenario de varias obras mientras todav\u00eda era estudiante.
