An expert will strap you in and give you the choice of whether you want to jump off the bridge facing forwards, or let yourself fall backwards. Falling backwards is not nearly as scary as going forward. You are harnessed to a rope, so you swing under the bridge instead of bouncing back up, which is not as jarring as bungee jumping.
