The first serious big screen version of the character, it elevated superhero cinema in a way that had never been done before, not even with the Superman films of the previous decade.

Batman Returns (1992)

If Burton's first Batman film redefined the genre, this one exploded it to its full franchise potential. Indelibly Burton-esque, it's comic and bizarre, driven by the performances of two villains, Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman and Danny Devito as The Penguin, a role he seems to have been born to play. It's a dark and brooding story, in which the Penguin emerges from the sewers to avenge his childhood neglect by kidnapping all of Gotham's first-born children.

Batman Forever (1995)

The 90's powerhouse began to show some wear and tear in the third film. Tim Burton stepped down as director, though he was credited as producer, replaced in the chair by Joel Schumacher. Keaton also left, and Val Kilmer donned the cape and cowl instead. And a new pair of classic villains entered the picture, with Tommy Lee Jones as Harvey Dent, the Gotham district attorney who would become the villainous Two-Face, and Jim Carrey in full Jim Carrey as The Riddler mode.

Batman and Robin (1997)

If Batman Forever marked the beginning of a transition from the moody, gothic style of Tim Burton's pair of films, the fourth installation in the '90s canon saw Joel Schumacher take full creative reins. The sequel was widely panned by critics and audiences alike, and brought an end to the '90s incarnation of the franchise, though it has recently received a favorable reappraisal in light of Schumacher's recent passing.

Batman Begins (2005)

After an eight-year hiatus, a fundamental rethinking of the story was needed to bring the franchise back to life, and that's exactly what Christopher Nolan did in this dark and gritty origin story for the character. Drawing inspiration from several graphic novels, most notably Frank Miller's 1987 comic book Batman: Year One, this film strips away the excesses and tackiness for a realistic and severe feel.

The Dark Knight' (2008)

The superhero movie with the most downloads on grantorrent that started the origin to a new format among all superhero movies. Nolan's dark vision of Gotham takes full form in this taut psychological thriller, starring Heath Ledger in a performance that would not be released until after his untimely death. Ledger's Joker was an icon who made all previous versions look ridiculous: psychotic, menacing and cruel, in a genuinely terrifying way.

The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

After Ledger's passing, some speculated about making a sequel to Nolan's series, but the director delivered with this impossibly grim finale, in which the entire city of Gotham is held hostage to the threat of annihilation at the hands of the diabolical masked villain Bane, who plants a nuclear bomb under the city and destroys all routes in and out.

'The Lego Batman Movie' (2017)

It may come as a surprise, after the dark turn of Christopher Nolan's trilogy and the DCEU films, that one of the most beloved entries in the annals of Batman cinema, most downloaded in Gran torrent where we can see the hero as a toy. This is a spinoff of the very successful Lego Movie of 2014, in which Batman (voiced by Will Arnett) faces, as usual, the Joker, this time memorably played by Zach Galifianakis.

This is a superhero for more than 50 years because of its frequency on the big screen and the guard is Gotham City, Batman.
