En general, los romanos eran muy desinhibidos en su vida privada y tenían la mentalidad un tanto  distinta de la nuestra.

 

 

 

El verbo fornicar proviene de Roma Antigua,  porque el lugar favorito para este pasatiempo eran fornices, las grandes arcadas que estaban edificadas en todas partes.

 

 
 

La prostitución era considerada como un bien social, por esto había batallones de representantes de esta profesión que estaban divididas en diversas categorías.

Las divisiones parecían a las del ejército, donde por ejemplo si los combatientes montan a caballo esto se llama caballería. En Roma la denominación  dependía del lugar, las que montaban en el circo o en la calle se llamaban ambulatarae (seguramente por el trabajo ambulatorio), las que montaban en los bosques se denominaban lupae, las que se situaban en los cementerios eran bustuariae, etc. (este último lugar parece un poco extraño para el oficio, pero tal vez los parientes de los difuntos necesitaban un rápido consuelo).

 
 

Con estas monedas se pagaban los servicios en los burdeles. Como podemos ver, los romanos eran muy organizados, ya que en cada moneda estaba estampado el tipo determinado de servicio que uno solicitaba, para que no haya confusión.

 

 
 

Parece que en esta época no había mucho tabú, así que un día el emperador Cómodo, borracho  como de costumbre, quiso copular con una pantera alunada. Parece que alguien le dijo que no sea animal, por lo que el alternativo emperador al final dejó a la pobre pantera en paz.

 

 
 

La semiótica de los romanos fue muy específica. Por ejemplo, esta alegre paloma fue el símbolo oficial de la ciudad de Pompeya.

 
 

La menta era considerada como un gran afrodisiaco. En tiempo de guerra se prohibió su cultivo y las infusiones de esta planta, para no debilitar a los soldados. (Nosotros la tragamos todos los días con chicle y no nos pasa nada, será que la transgénica no funciona).

 

 
 

Los romanos emplearon los primeros preservativos hechos de las vejigas de animales (aunque este artefacto parece lija de madera, de todos modos debió ser más agradable que los anticonceptivos egipcios fabricados a base de excrementos de cocodrilo).

    Erik, muy contundente tu metafora acerca de los rios de sangre que corrian en el Imperio Romano. Parece que para los romanos el placer estaba estrechamente ligado al sufrimiento.
