I love using Thunderbird to manage my email accounts, because it is a uniform environment to work with.
I installed Thunderbird from its official website www.mozilla.org/thunderbird/
My email account at ESPOL is hespinoz@espol.edu.ec
The configuration I’ve used is:
OUTGOING SETTINGS:
Server Name: smtp.espol.edu.ec
Port: 465
Conection Security: SSL/TLS
Authentication Method: Normal Password
Username: hespinoz
INCOMING SETTINGS:
Server Type: IMAP
Server Name: pop.espol.edu.ec
Port: 993
User Name: hespinoz
Connection Security: SSL/TLS
Authentication Method: Normal Password
Hope the information is useful for you. Notice I am using an IMAP server type. I prefer this over POP3.
