Con 40, 03 cUSD/kWh la energía solar fotovoltaica que se vierta a red en el territorio continental de Ecuador, y con 44,03 cUSD/kWh, Ecuador se posiciona entre los paises con mayores incentivos para esta inagotable fuente de energía renovable.
De conformidad con el artículo número 6.2, los precios, ó incentivos, ó tarifas por la generación de energía solar fotovoltaica de venta a red en Ecuador fijados en la presente regulación legal, se garantizarán y estarán vigentes por un período de 15 años a partir de la fecha de suscripción del título habilitante, para todas las empresas que hubieren suscrito dicho contrato hasta el 31 de diciembre de 2012.
Cumplido el periodo de vigencia indicado en el párrafo inmediato anterior, y hasta que se termine su plazo determinado en el título habilitante de las centrales renovables no convencionales operarán en el sector eléctrico ecuatoriano, con un tratamiento similar a cualquier central de tipo convencional, de acuerdo a las normas vigentes a esa fecha.
Finalizado el plazo de 15 años, las tarifas de estas centrales de energía renovable, se negociará con la normativa vigente a esa época.
